ABOUT US
Project Summary
Gladstone Road is a main arterial road connecting John F. Kennedy Drive to Carmichael Road along a predominantly north/south axis. Gladstone Road is a approximately 3 miles (15,486 ft.) long, single carriageway with in a 100ft wide road reservation.
Gladstone Road serves as the primary route to major industrial center on the island of New Providence. As a primary route, it is subject to long delays and high volumes of traffic on a daily basis that are anticipated to worsen with new development.
The Government of The Bahamas (GOB) through the Ministry of Works & Utilities (MOWU) seeks to undertake the widening of the route from a single land to a dual carriageway. Expanding the roadway to a dual carriageway will provide increased vehicle capacity, reduction in travel delays, intersection improvements, and improve safety for motorist and pedestrians.
The improvements will include a new storm drainage collection system, new LED street lighting, new road markings, sidewalks and a bicycle trail.
The JFK and Carmichael Road roundabouts will be redesigned to improve traffic flow and safety. Additional roundabouts will be installed along Gladstone Road to improve travel flow at major intersections, and provide turning movements for motorist on Gladstone Road.
